OUR PASTOR

Victor Velez

Meet Victor Velez, our new Pastor.

Victor has been in ministry for over 25 years working in the Midwest churches in children, youth and music ministries. His involvement in ministry began at age 13, when a lay minister in his church invited Victor to give him company and play the piano at a senior center. He caught a passion for ministry from that gentleman and accompanied him to senior centers weekly, leading worship and preaching. When he went to college, he counseled, preached, and led worship at homeless shelters, volunteered in local church youth, and music programs.

He is an accomplished musician, a composer and studio musician. He is also a screenwriter and filmmaker in his spare time. He has five adult children, who have ministered alongside him in music, drama and puppet ministries. In his mid-twenties, he accepted his first full-time church staff position in youth and music ministries. He continued his passion for volunteering at homeless shelters, prison ministry, and senior centers.

In 1991, Victor graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Piano Performance from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma. In 2005, he graduated with a Master of Arts in Religious Studies degree at Central Baptist Theological Seminary, in Kansas City, Kansas.

Today, Victor considers being a Father to his grown children and Grandfather to his grandchildren as his first most important vocation and ministry as a close second!

He brings many years of ministry experience in building quality programs, creative arts and volunteer-management, as well as a great love for children, teens, and adults of all ages. His favorite writers are George MacDonald and C.S. Lewis, and one of his most defining Bible verses is from Romans 12:1, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God…” He is excited to work at Central Baptist Church
